KÖMMERLING: Structural Glazing Silicones
July 2009

KÖMMERLING Koediglaze S and GD 920 meet the requirements of ETAG 002
Structural Glazing stands for an assembly technique in facade engineering, where the glass elements are bonded to the supporting structure (anodised, powder coated Aluminum or stainless steel) with silicone sealants only – with or without mechanical transfer of their self weight.

Static and dynamic weight loads on the outside facade such as self weight, climate- and wind loads are transferred to the substructure by the structural bonding. Furthermore the adhesive must compensate the different alterations in
length of the aluminum or stainless steel due to temperature change.

GD 920 is a 2-part Silicone to seal insulating glass units whose self weight is transferred mechanically, as described in ETAG 002 (type I and II).

With Koediglaze S (2-component silicone) glass and insulating glass units are bonded to a metal supporting frame with and without mechanical transfer of their self weight (ETAG 002 type I to IV). This silicone is also used for the manufacture of insulating glass elements, whose self weight is not transferred mechanically. Both GD 920 and Koediglaze S meet the requirements of EN 1279, including part 3 for gas filled insulating glass units as well as the requirements according ETAG 002 and EN 15434.

GD 920 and Koediglaze S have the ETA (European Technical Approval) and are also licensed in France (CEKAL and SNJF with VI VEC for GD 920 and VEC for Koediglaze S).

The constantly high quality is documented by the CE mark.

KÖMMERLING offers the most complete product range up of high quality sealants for the glass industry. Besides the Structural Glazing silicones KÖMMERLING also has products for the primary sealant, Warm-Edge TPS, as well as secondary sealants based on polysulphide, polyurethane or isomelt in its programme.
